Meehan has always been a key figure
"Meehan is no stranger to political campaigns or players at the state and national levels of government. He served as Special Counsel to Sen. Arlen Specter and later as campaign manager for Sen. Rick Santorum, Philadelphia District Attorney Ronald Castille and state Attorney General Ernie Preate. All of these close Republican ties prompted one luncheon attendee to ask Meehan if the public would hear only the Republican talking points, and if Meehan was prepared to be “a loyal member of the opposition.”
'I hope to take each issue each day as it comes along,' Meehan said. 'I’m not here to engage in Republican or Democratic bashing.'
Meehan had a little criticism to go around, however, saying there wasn’t significant dialogue in the president’s office now any more than during the Bush White House.
'We need reasonable people of both voices to get into a room,” he said. “Government is best when it tries to have an impact on certain kinds of problems.'"

"Meehan’s careers in the field of justice have tackled issues such as predatory lending, Internet crime against children, domestic violence, healthcare benefits fraud and anti-terrorism. If interpreted as the dark side of society, the flip side is still apparent in Meehan’s perspective.
“Those of us to who aspire to public office wish to restore confidence and credibility in institutions,” Meehan said. “We want to rebuild a sense of optimism and the can-do spirit that has existed in this country.
He closed his remarks, saying, “I know there are remarkable problems to face. If solutions were easy, they would have been found. What we have to find is a way to work together.""
